Since 2008, confessional Lutheran pastors from the United States have been teaching exegesis, the Lutheran confessions, pastoral theology and homiletics (preaching) to pastors and seminary students of Lutheran church bodies in Central and South America, Africa and Asia, under the direction of the Confessional Lutheran Education Foundation (CLEF).
Classes are taught at seminaries, Lutheran churches and conference locations for one to three weeks – all at the invitation of the respective church body officials. The classes help participants upgrade their Biblical knowledge, gain a deeper understanding of the confessions and assist them in the office of the holy ministry.
Pastors from the United States raise the funds needed for their expenses, however, the CLEF makes all the arrangements. Several pastors have returned a second and third time.
