A newsletter/mailing is in progress as well as a completely newly constructed website – It will be (is) awesome and will keep you up to date without spending money on extra mailings (Not like we send out a lot of mail using your gifts! We be the best of all on that!).
Don’t forget to remember the CLEF in your generous giving at the end of this tax year! We need your help!
The latest edition of the newsletter of the Lutheran Church of the Philippines is now available to read over on our page dedicated to our work in the Philippines. Read it by clicking here.
One of the congregations name is St. James Lutheran Church – in Balugo Albuera Leyte. The two other congregations [I will get you] the names.
We have heard that most of the members are spared but church property has been washed out. Church buildings had their roofings blown away and so there was severe damage.
I will let you know/give an update of the two other congregation’s names.
As you already know, Baguio was spared from the ravages of the super typhoon. There was hardly any rain here. Mindanao was also spared (Cagayan de Oro and Iligan – our hometowns). We are fine, although Rev. Ladlad’s (Awing’s) wife’s family who hails from San Isidro, Leyte has not yet received any aid from any relief efforts because it is in a remote area northwest of Ormoc City. We continue to pray for them. We have heard that it has been several days already since they last had solid food. It was only recently that communications were restored. So we are doing something for them right now. This will be a personal direct effort to the 19 barangays on the ground. All relief efforts will be directed to major cities.. but the people from smaller communities also need help. All is focused in Tacloban right now and there are many groups there already so we will on our own coordinate with friends there on how best we can send them aid, especially rice and water and dried fish and others..
This will be all for now.
